Browse Our Standard Size Picture Frames First
We recommend starting with our standard-sized picture frames. As with most prints, posters, photographs, and certificates in the UK, they are produced in commonly used dimensions.
These standard sizes are designed to fit popular artwork formats. It makes the ordering process quicker and more straightforward. Standard sizes are typically faster to dispatch and more cost-effective compared to fully custom options.
If your artwork matches one of the listed dimensions, choosing a standard-size frame will save both time and cost. All standard picture frames are available across our 7 moulding styles and a wide range of colours.
When to Use the Made to Measure Tool
If your artwork does not match any of our listed standard sizes, use the made-to-measure picture frame order tool. This option lets you order a picture frame built to your exact dimensions. It is ideal for non-standard prints, original artwork, canvas pieces, or items that fall between common UK sizes.
When entering your measurements, always provide the exact width × height of the artwork itself, not the size of an existing frame. Measuring the picture frame instead of the artwork is one of the most common causes of ordering errors.
For best accuracy, we recommend measuring in centimetres and checking your dimensions carefully before placing your order. Even a small measurement mistake can affect the final fit. So, be careful while measuring your art.
The made-to-measure tool is available for:
- Picture Frame only
- Picture Frame with mount
If you are unsure about your measurements, contact us before ordering, and we will guide you to the correct size.
How to Order a Frame with Mount
When ordering a picture frame with a mount, it's important to understand three key measurements:
1. Artwork Size
It is the exact width × height of your print or photo. Always measure the artwork itself, not an old picture frame.
2. Picture Frame Size
The photo frame size refers to the internal dimensions of the frame that hold the mount. It will refer to the outer size of the mount board.
3. Aperture Size (Window Opening)
The aperture is the cut-out opening in the mount that reveals your artwork. When you enter the mount size while ordering a made-to-measure picture frame, you are entering the aperture size. So it should be the same size as your artwork.
The mount border is the visible space between the picture frame edge and the aperture opening. A wider border creates more white space around the artwork, while a narrower border keeps the focus tighter.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Avoid the following common mistakes while ordering a bespoke picture frame from ProCut Global:
- Entering the frame size as the outer size of the photo frame
- Measuring an existing frame instead of the artwork
- Not allowing for a slight overlap on the aperture
If the aperture is cut to the same size as your artwork, the print will hold securely; otherwise, you will see differences.
For example, if your artwork measures 43cm × 32cm:
- For Picture Frame Only, enter 43cm × 32cm.
- For Picture Frame with Mount, enter 43cm × 32cm as the mount size (it refers to the mount's aperture), and enter your frame size larger than this to determine how wide you want the mount.
If you are unsure about which measurements to enter, contact us before placing your order, and we will guide you.

Important Measuring Tips For Ordering Frames From ProCut Global
Getting the correct measurements is essential to ensure your artwork fits perfectly in your photo frame. Follow these tips to avoid costly errors:
- Measure Artwork Edge to Edge: Always measure the artwork, print, or item you want to display, not the frame or mount.
- Use Centimeters: For accuracy, record the width × height in centimetres.
- Understand Aperture vs Frame Size: On our website, the frame size refers to the aperture size of the frame. If a frame is listed as a 10x10" Picture Frame, it means the frame is designed to display an art piece measuring 10x10".
- Understand Aperture vs Frame Size for Mounts: The frame size refers to the mount's outer size, while the aperture (or internal frame opening) matches the exact size of your artwork. For example, an A3 frame with an A4 aperture will fit in an A3 frame and properly display an A4 piece of art.
- Check Twice Before Ordering: Double-check your measurements before submitting your order to avoid mistakes.
- Contact Us If Unsure: If you are unsure about any measurement, reach out to our team. We'll guide you to ensure your frame fits perfectly.
Following these tips helps guarantee a professional finish and reduces the risk of returns or adjustments.
